On July 21st, Fair Lawn ARC, hosted Dr. N.A.Frissell, W2NAF, where he spoke about the upcoming Solar Eclipse and how Amateur Radio will play a role in a scientific study of how the ionosphere changes during the event. Scouting Solar Eclipse Viewing event

Boy Scout Troop 159 ( http://olqptroopandpack159.org/ ) is planning a viewing event at Wallish Farms in West Milford. All Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts are invited to attend. Scott Wylie, WY1LIE, will be setting up an HF station and participating in the SEQP ( http://hamsci.org/solar-eclipse-qso-party ) demonstrating amateur radio and promoting citizen science. The science part if the SEQP fulfills a requirement for a STEM award.

Bob Witham, WD2U, passed away this past Tuesday evening, on August 8, 2017 at his home in Spring Lake NJ. Bob was 81 years old.

Bob was a long time active member of the Ocean Monmouth Amateur Radio Club, OMARC, and an “Elmer” to many people.He held the position of club Treasurer for many years and participated in every activity. NEW Amateur Radio Posters

ARRL offers a series of six posters that promote Amateur Radio to the general public. These were originally designed by ARRL for the 2017 National Scouting Jamboree, but may be used for any outreach effort. Each poster is 11" x 17".

The six posters are based around the theme, "Ham Radio Is..." Those themes are: Adventure, Discovery, Out Of This World, Ready, The Game
