The South Plainfield Amateur Radio Club (SPARC) participated at the Boy Scout Raritan Valley District Fall Camporee held at Fort Hancock a former United States Army fort at Sandy Hook in Middletown Township New Jersey on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018.
The Camporee consisted of over 200 hundred scouts and advisors. SPARC members introduced amateur radio operations, to the scouts and provided hands on operation. Members explained various modes of operation and added that while amateur radio provides great personal satisfaction to the individual, it provides an important service to its community and the government during times of emergencies and public events. The scouts can also work towards a Radio Merit Badge if they so desire.
The SPARC contingency consisted of: Marvin Bronstein, K2VHW; Harry Chiovarou, KC2PGX; David Hackett, KD2FSI; Larry Makoski, W2LJ and E. Drew Moore, W2OU.
